Elder Richard Oveson: 2018

first of all how is it 2018???? i remember when 2017 started and i was depressed because i realized i would be in the mission for the whole year but then i blinked and it was over... time is weird on the lords errand.

this past week we had zone conference and i have truly never gotten more out of a zone conference and i give 100% of the credit to the fact that i took really detailed notes. the spirit was telling me stuff that the speakers werent even saying. we also gave a class on planning lessons and after our president told us that he was planning on using the same model that we used but ended up running out of time. the spirit really helped us plan that lesson.

also had a leadership councel. i tried to push the fact that we need to change some things in this mission. not huge things just small basic things like the district meetings and the teaching skills. no one really agreed with me. which is weird considering the fact that we are in mexico and are averaging 6 baptisms a week as a mission. something needs to change.

idk how or why but my parents sent me 2 pairs of scriptures with my name on them. so i gave one to one of my converts for his mission. i love that kid. wouldnt want anyone else to have it.

we have an investigator named maria guadalupe who came to church for the second time this sunday. we also set a baptismal date for her. at first she wasnt sure but we asked her how she felt at church and reading the book of mormon and identified the holy ghost... identifying the holy ghost in lessons is a new thing for me but its been really effective. and i mean REALLY EFFECTIVE. keep her in your prayers for the 20th of january.

we passed new years playing phase 10 until midnight then went to our roof and watched other peoples fireworks. mexico knows how to turn up #missionlife.

i really love the mission and am really looking fwd to this year and whatever it brings for me and my mission!!
