Elder Richard Oveson: this week was lit

im not kidding it was crazy.

it was a pretty rough week for work because its spring break here but a lot of crazy stuff happened so buckle up mom.

my comp and i were walking around and one of our investigators came up to us and told us how they just found a body in the park by our house. eeek i was freaking out cause i thought someone killed him or something but turns out he just drank himself to death. the people here man. hahaha

on thursday we went to the temple as a zone and it was super awesome. the temple is always a nice break from the world.

for easter here they do a live crucifixion in the park by my house. there were tons of people there and it was one of the most appostate things ive ever seen in my life hahahha. they do a trial the night before and just act the whole thing out. and then they have this dude walk through the street carrying his cross and people dressed up as roman soldiers whipping him. there were even old ladies crying hhahaha super realistic but way weird hahhah then they crucified him. apparently its a great honor to get to play jesus and get crucified. once again the people here man. crazy.

on friday night we were walking back from an appointment and these guys asked us for help pushing their car. we helped them then they just drove off. my comp told me that he thinks we helped them steal it. hahahah whoops.

saturday is a holiday here where youre supposed to get people wet so after english class me and some other elders got some others with water ballons. one of them got pissed and punched me hahahhaha but he was soaking wet so i was just laughing like i do when people get mad at me hahahha

saturday night we were visiting one of our investigators and her grandson was there so we started playing basketball and i told him that if i beat him he had to come to church with us. i dont know what he was thinking taking on a servant of the lord but i beat him pretty badly with gods help. i was actually was surprised when he actually showed up to church hahahhaha but that was dope. hes a way cool kid. when we were walking to church with him one of the sisters in the ward asked if he was going to get baptised. im like idk bro just dont scare him away. the members here are sometimes more of a stumbling block than a help to us. hahahah

sunday after church i dont think ive ever encountered so many drunk and high people in one day. it was wild. this chick came up to us and started telling us how she got raped and then started grabbing at my belt and stuff like that. eeeek holy cow i seriously felt violated. enough with that.

also we saw one of our investigators on sunday after church and she started telling us how we were supposed to pass by her house and she tried calling us and because we didnt she drank all day and was on her way to catholic church. what the heck this chick was trying to blame us for her drinking problem smh.

id have to say peoples agency is probably the saddest thing as a missionary. were over here trying to save their souls and they either dont wanna listen to us or just do stupid stuff. hard to explain but sad.
