the weeks have been flying by! i cant believe i only have 1 more week here in the mtc. first off i forgot something in my email last week... I FINALLY DUNKED!!! only because i have God on my side so after my mission i probably wont be able to but thats something that only needs to be done once in life. hahha
pretty much 10 times per day nacho libre gets quoted here so when they serve chips in the comedor the joke is that they are the lords chips WHICH THEY ARE HAHAHH its way funny even if it doesnt seem that funny it is i promise
ive been sick pretty much all week so its been pretty rough but not that bad! the only bad part is that i cant stay home and sleep all day like if i was sick at home!
on saturday we were playing volleyball and i rolled my left ankle way bad so now im down to zero good ankles hahhahah oh well
sundays are the best here!!!! after our regular sunday meetings we had a lesson about the presthood and it was awesome but i fell asleep during the next meeting because the chairs in the Gordon B Hinkley building are more comfortable than our beds hahahha so im not sure what that meeting was about but im sure it was great! after dinner instead of watching a movie we watched a talk by elder holland! id way rather listen to elder holland to be honest! i could listen to him speak for hours!!! the thing that stuck out to me most was he talked about leaving our nets behind even after our missions we need to continue to serve the lord and not just go back to fishing
monday was good but not much to write about. elder howells mom sent him a football so its been a lot of fun to be able to throw a football around. we also gave a really good lesson on the word of wisdom and my spanish is getting good enough so i can understand a lot and answer questions and all that good stuff!
tuesday was a good day! i felt the spirit a lot and ive been seeing the gift of tongues work! ive been working hard to learn the words and seeing my work pay off with the help of the lord! the pizza was good as always and i ate a ton! for our tuesday devotional it was broadcast from the provo mtc and ELDER HOLLAND SPOKE! it was such a blessing to be able to hear him speak twice in one week!!! his whole talk was about alma 26 which is probably the best chapter in the whole book of mormon! it was a really good talk and for sure super uplifting. he speaks with so much power and you can for sure tell he is a man of God and i secretly hope he is the next prophet (if im even allowed to do that) hahhaha anyway I FEEL THE SPIRIT SO STRONG WHEN HE SPEAKS!!! its so awesome.
wednesday nothing really happened worth writing about just sick and studying all day and playing more volleyball.
thursday was the one month mark! i was having a pretty bad day to be honest for whatever reason! i was feeling super sick and all i wanted to do was sleep all day but i have work to do ya feel! anyway after gym time i was just not feeling it but we had a lesson with our investigator and shes just our teacher but shes playing the role of her aunt who has an abusive husband. I DID NOT WANT TO TEACH but we did anyway. we were planning on teaching about the restoration but we asked her how she was doing and she started telling us about how shes been having a hard time and just a bunch of other stuff. we shared some scriptues with her and the words to say to her came to me. i told her that God loves her and wants to help her. i told her that we love her and want to help her. we extended a challenge to read the book of mormon and pray every night and i told her that i know if she does that the lord will help her find peace in her life. (not my words the lords) she started crying and told us that she will tell her aunt all the things we had told her after the lesson. it was really awesome and for sure made my day a ton better! after that we learned some new spanish grammar and went outside to practice street contacting around the mtc. we went on splits and so i was with elder howell and we were talking to random missionaries but our teacher told us to talk to the construction workers who arent actually members and to get their numbers. we got 2 numbers and im going to call them as soon as i get out and start teaching them about the restored gospel!
thats pretty much my whole week. sorry if my letters are too long or too short hahahha
miss you guys but this is so fun!
love, elder oveson
