tuesday we had our interviews with president and it honestly went really well! my president is exactly what this mission needs. ill leave it at that... but my comp told him that he still wanted to go home so pres told him to come back at 630 to talk to his stake president. we went back and they were in that office for a long time hahah but he came out and tells me "you won, im not going home" but then president called me into his office. i thought he was just going to tell me to be nice to him and be paitiant but he told me that we were going to have special changes and asked me where i think he should go. i gave my opinion but he decided to go another way and i got a new comp the next day!!!
my new comp is dope!!! his name is elder velez and hes from puerto rico. he has 6 months in the mission but much more time than me on the earth! yesterday he turned 27. but hes great! super obidient and loves working which is a nice change... so you could say we have been putting in mad work.
the other day we were walking to an appointment and this lady pulls over and asks us where the mormon mass is??? it was pretty funny but then she asks me how long i have in mexico. i told her 9 months and then shes like "oh that explains why your spanish sucks" its funny because everyone tells me my spanish is good but i think that happened because like 5 minutes before that i was making a list of the things i need to do better at and one of them was humility. i guess god answers prayers but it also says in alma that blessed are they who are humble without having a reason to be humble. idk kinda confusing. and it didnt make me any more humble it just made me laugh. anyway!
we are teaching this young kid named manuel and he is progressing great! hes 16 and keeps surprising us because he keeps reading the book of mormon! if youve ever taught young people youll know that its a miracle. we told him that we were going to pass with him on sunday but we called before and he didnt answer so we decided that he was probably sleeping and didnt pass by. we went over later that day and he tells us "i was waiting for you guys this morning to go to church but you never came???" i feel really bad about that but im just happy because he keeps progressing.
on saturday we went and looked for a bunch of old investigators and just ended up getting in a bunch of arguments about joseph smiths life and how wrong we are. hahaha we have a goal as a companionship that if it ever seems like its going to be an argument its better to just tell them we have to go because we arent going to convert anyone by arguing with them. even if we win. hahaha
yesterday we finally got one of our investigators to church. shes the alcoholic. she was actually in her pjs and smelled like alcohol when we passed for her. we convinced her that it was ok and we would wait for her to change. a couple days earlier we tried to set a date for her and she told us she wasnt sure but after sacrament meeting she came up to us and told us that she wanted to get baptized!!! she even called us that night and told us how much she LOVED the church and shes planning on going every week from now on because of how much she loved it. miracles.
it was also my new comps birthday yesterday so i bought him a cake. #companionoftheyear
i had a dream last night that i was home and it was honestly depressing. every dream ive had like that before i was happy but im to a point where i really dont want to go home. ive heard thats normal but its still weird.
anyway. love you all! dont forget to email me.
